Sunday 5th March saw the club travelling to Queens Park Leisure Centre in Chesterfield for our annual trip to compete in the East Midlands GFA under 8s competition.
This was the first time of competing for some of our gymnasts, so with a few nerves, but more importantly big smiles our under 8s ‘squashed and squeezed’ and performed some beautiful routines, showing the tightness and controlled movement we had been working so hard on in the gym.
Some fantastic scores, personal achievements, competitive placings were seen through both the morning (5/6 years) and afternoon (7 years) competitions, including 3rd,6th, and 8th with our 6 years old girls in a group of 40 gymnasts and our boys gaining two 1st, and one 2nd.
The scores were very, very close on the day with 0.1 being the only difference between 1st and 3rd in some groups.
We would like to say a very big ‘well done’ to all that competed on the day, and we look forward to you continually developing and improving as part of the gymnasts family known as ‘Phoenixwood’.
